What's Open in Lakewood Ranch This Fall, and Why the Bowling Alley Waits Until 2027

October 8, 2026

Lakewood Ranch's October calendar has one firm opening date on it. Life Time Lakewood Ranch lists "Arriving October 12" on its club page. That puts the 86,000-square-foot athletic country club at 5000 Lakewood Ranch Blvd N on track for the October 2026 opening the company described this summer. The bigger set of projects a few miles away on Professional Parkway, with go-karts, bowling, duckpin lanes and a lawn stage, has moved into 2027. The first season that district will have most of its pieces open is next summer, which is also the season it was designed for.

That changes the next eight months. The new places in Lakewood Ranch from now until spring are smaller and closer to home: a club you join, an Irish pub and a bakery on Main Street, and a grocery store on State Road 64. The drop-in, rainy-afternoon entertainment that families have been told is coming is a 2027 story.

The October 12 Date That Held

Life Time's timeline has tightened at each update. In February 2026 the Bradenton Herald reported "Fall 2026." In March, Your Observer reported "late 2026." The company's own article set the opening for October 2026, and the club page now gives the day.

It will be the ninth Life Time in Florida and the first in the Sarasota area. Until now, the closest location was Life Time Harbour Island in Tampa, 64 miles away. "The community has been calling out for a club of its own," said Steve Datte, who leads the Lakewood Ranch club.

Life Time's published plan for the building includes:

  • An outdoor beach club with lap and leisure pools, waterslides, private cabanas and bistro dining
  • Five lighted outdoor pickleball courts and three indoor courts with a viewing area
  • Five boutique studios for formats including CTR reformer, Pilates, barre and yoga
  • A Kids Academy for ages 3 months to 11 years, with up to 2.5 hours of daily child care included in Junior Memberships
  • A Work Club Lounge, a LifeSpa and LifeClinic chiropractic care by appointment

Two details matter if you're deciding before opening day. Life Time says membership capacity at the club is "closely monitored," and dues for people who join before opening are set at a preferred rate that rises once the club opens. Pre-opening members can also reserve their first class seven days before the grand opening. With an October 12 opening, that window would start around October 5. Life Time hasn't published pricing. It says the club's concierge team shares rates directly.

Life Time is the one large project opening this fall, and it's a membership club. Professional Parkway, where the open-to-anyone venues are, is on a different schedule.

Professional Parkway's Calendar, Then and Now

In March 2026, Your Observer laid out the entertainment district growing around Urban Air and said it was expected to be built out by early summer 2027. The schedule has moved since then.

Venue Address Target in March 2026 Latest public timing
Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park 6450 Professional Pkwy Open Open
Backyard Social 6400 Professional Pkwy Mid-November 2026 Early 2027, no projected date
SkyTrack Family Entertainment Center 6500 Professional Parkway West May 1, 2027 Spring 2027, exact date to be announced

Backyard Social had the earliest target, and its move into 2027 changes the calendar the most. In March, owner Mat Baum said the foundation hadn't been poured yet. He and partner John Mann were still aiming for mid-November. On September 18, a spokesperson told the Bradenton Herald there is no projected opening date yet and that the company is looking at early 2027.

When it opens, the Fort Myers-based concept will work differently from a restaurant. There's no kitchen. Food trucks will be parked outside permanently, and the March lineup included Gigi Gourmet, Gigi's Chicken Coop, Gyros2Go, Lobster Chef and Box Car Cantina. The 12,500-square-foot building can be opened up or closed and air-conditioned depending on the weather. A tiki bar and a 6,000-square-foot stage sit out on the lawn. Games such as duckpin bowling, darts, shuffleboard, cornhole and a golf simulator are open to all ages until 9 p.m. After that, it's 21 and older. The Lakewood Ranch location will also have a private event space, a built-in coffee shop and a bigger lawn than the Fort Myers original, with room for local and national bands.

SkyTrack's change is smaller. The project broke ground March 10. In March its owners projected a May 1, 2027 opening, based on a build of about 14 months, with the go-kart track shipped from Europe and installed in 30 days. The company's site now says "Spring 2027. Exact date to be announced." That still fits the May target but no longer commits to the day.

What Summer 2027 Is Being Built For

SkyTrack's owners have been clear about the season they're building for. Co-owner Dr. Wael Alokeh, a physician who lives in The Lake Club, and his wife Jennifer Alokeh set out to offer family-friendly indoor entertainment for the hottest stretch of the year.

"Lakewood Ranch has rapidly grown and has become one of the best places to live, but there's no bowling alley or go-karts, so the idea evolved from there." — Jennifer Alokeh, to Your Observer

Their 70,000-square-foot building is planned around an electric go-kart track that runs across three stories for more than half a mile, with karts reaching 27 miles per hour. The plan also includes more than 85 arcade and virtual reality games, a 16-lane bowling alley, an indoor mini-golf course, two bars, an outdoor stage, and a full-service restaurant serving steaks and carpaccio alongside faster options like burgers.

If the spring 2027 dates hold, summer 2027 will be the first time Professional Parkway has all of this open at once. Until then, Urban Air is the anchor. Michael Tucci, the Sarasota owner behind three Urban Air franchises, runs a 60,000-square-foot park that Your Observer described as the largest of 400 Urban Air locations. He chose mini-carts for children 7 and under instead of go-karts, leaving go-karts to SkyTrack, and he has gotten to know the owners of both new neighbors. "We should all partner together," he told Your Observer. "It's going to be fantastic."

Main Street Filled In First

The places that did open in Lakewood Ranch in 2026 are smaller, run by local operators, and closer to the neighborhoods.

Delany's Public House opened July 23 at 8110 Lakewood Main St., in the former McGrath's space. The partners are Tory Delany, her husband Darren Shore, and Kevin O'Hanlon. The Bradenton Herald's summer roundup describes Delany and O'Hanlon as Irish natives. Their timeline ran long too. One partner told the Bradenton Herald the team had hoped to open four or five months earlier. The partners also planned an Irish provisions and sweet shop at the front of the pub, but no separate opening date has been reported.

Bread Bandits opened in August a few doors down at 8130 Lakewood Main St., Suite 103. It's a takeaway bakery run by Jules Thuet and Brad Rutledge, and it has a gift-shop area. The Bradenton Herald's summer roundup listed it among this year's Main Street additions.

Up on State Road 64, Publix at Northchase Center opened June 11 at 16642 State Road 64 E., at Uihlein Road. Its in-store Pours bar serves coffee, tea, smoothies and acai bowls. The Northchase outparcels are set for McDonald's, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Chase Bank. When Your Observer reported in June, a McDonald's sign was up and Chipotle construction had started, and the report gave no opening dates for any of the three.

Dates to Keep Between Now and Next Summer

  1. Around October 5: Pre-opening Life Time members can start reserving classes, seven days before opening.
  2. October 12: Life Time Lakewood Ranch opens at 5000 Lakewood Ranch Blvd N.
  3. Early 2027: Backyard Social's latest stated timing, with no projected date yet.
  4. Spring 2027: SkyTrack's official window. Its owners projected May 1 in March.
  5. Early summer 2027: The build-out target Your Observer reported for the Professional Parkway district.

Of those five dates, only the first two have a published calendar day. Backyard Social and SkyTrack will set theirs closer to opening.
